Editorial

Next month I will be part of a Global Mission Roundtable in England, representing the Global Member Care Network. Representatives of Mission Networks from around the world will be coming together to build relationship and talk. What an opportunity to speak into the world of Missions on behalf of Member Care. I have been thinking about my message, and here are some of my preliminary thoughts.

I usually don't like war analogies, with Gods soldiers and the army of God. But recently I heard someone talk about the German army these days in Afghanistan. Soldiers being send, trying their part to bring peace and justice, supported by the German government and paid by tax payers, with high media coverage about international cooperation, about terminologies of war versus peace keeping, with death, suffering and post trauma, successes and failures.
Recently I read an article in the Times 'As an atheist, I truly believe Africa needs God' http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/matthew_parris/article5400568.ece

Well, I truly believe the whole world needs God. It needs senders, and it needs those who go. Those who go need to be skilled, trained and equipped both practically and spiritually. And those who send need to be skilled, trained and equipped as well. And in a world of Media, these kingdom of God projects and workers need media coverage, for the sake of information, transparency, discussion and growth.
Have you heard about the new Member Care committees in Malawi? Chinese parents releasing their children into missions? Demographic changes and it's effect on the sending church in Europe? Member Care in the Latin world after two devastating earthquakes?
It's good to celebrate what God has done over the last 20 years, but we still have a long way to go.

Western Europe

Barnabas Zentrum Austria

- Barnabas Zentrum is especially designed to strengthen the lives of Christian workers who are serving in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. BZ serves as an interdenominational personal and marital counseling retreat center for pastors, missionaries and others in church and Para church staff positions. The relaxed atmosphere of Barnabas Zentrum provides a place of solitude and confidentiality in which such issues as marital crisis, stress, burnout, staff/team relations, and interpersonal or vocational conflicts, etc. may be worked through. For more information please check our web site at: www.bzentrum.eomweb.org

6. NORTH AMERCIA

Interaction International
- Today’s Voice for Third Culture Kids and Internationally Mobile Families
Interaction’s focus is . . .
* TCKs—those who are growing up today and Adult TCKs of all generations!
* Internationally mobile families from the missions, military, business and diplomatic communities.
* All those who impact the lives of TCKs (i.e. parents, educators, counselors, caregivers, etc.)
We are excited about who TCKs are and about their potential. TCKs are a rapidly growing people group in today’s world. Each year, more families are raising their children outside of their passport culture, and the impact of these experiences last a lifetime. Although TCKs don’t vote in any country’s election as children, they are people of worldwide impact. Although their passport says they belong to one country, they are the global citizens of the twenty-first century whose background enables them to understand and build bridges between cultures.http://www.interactionintl.org/home.asp

3. BOOKS

New book: Home Keeps Moving
- My name is Heidi Sand-Hart and I am a missionary kid who grew up in India, England and Norway.
I have recently written a book about being a missionary kid and it is getting published in America by McDougal Publishing. Ruth E. Van Reken has written a great foreword for the book and it will be released in mid-July.
I see that you are devoted to ongoing work with TCKs and thought you might be interested in "Home Keeps Moving" as it gives a lot of insight into the many struggles and subjects that "TCKs" deal with. My book is a more personal approach to a subject that has, up until now, been mostly theoretical.
Would you be interested in promoting "Home Keeps Moving" for me? It will be available to buy on amazon.com and amazon.co.uk as well as through Christian bookshops in the USA from mid-July onwards. My publisher's website has more info on the actual book: http://www.mcdougal.org/bookDetail.cfm?pg=new&bkid=305 http://homekeepsmoving.blogspot.com
