I am just back from the CCCOWE Women Missions Conference in Tagaytay, Philippines having been delayed for 15 hours because of Typhoon Mirinae.
There was a missionary retreat of 51 Chinese personnel and 750 at the conference. The response was great. When the altar call was given almost all the participants came followed to do one of the suggested commitments including willingness to give sons and daughters to be missionaries. Some of them are elderly - great grandmothers, grandmothers, mothers, daughters, daughters-in-law and even grandchildren! This is a big issue of releasing sons and daughters. I also saw how far behind is the understanding of how to care for those who were sent out. After one of my workshops I spent an hour with a sister who was so much wounded and hurt over and over.
